• inconsistencies and style issues

Other areas addressed include awkward phrasing, repetition, showing vs. telling, best word choices, passive verb elimination, suitable dialogue, chapter breaks, timeline consistency, and more.

Edits follow The Chicago Manual of Style guidelines. Spelling and word choices are checked through Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary. 

My job is to sniff out and hunt down those little missteps and mistakes that might make a reader stop and stumble. I capture those little suckers so your story can do what it’s supposed to do—make me laugh, make me cry, make me want to read more.

Rates:

First, let’s figure out if we’re a good match. Send me 25 pages, and I will copy edit them for an agreed upon price. After reviewing my edits, you decide whether we can work together.

If you decide to use I Spy Edits for copy editing, I will email you a personalized contract. Sign the contract and email it back to me with your manuscript in a Word document. Within an agreed upon time frame, you’ll get your manuscript back with clearly marked edits in Word’s Track Changes.
